Description

YORK SE6051NE GEORGE STREET 1112-1/17/359 (South East side) 24/06/83 Nos.9, 11 AND 13 (Formerly Listed as: GEORGE STREET Nos.9-17 (Odd)) GV II Terrace of 3 houses with shops. c1844. Pink and cream mottled brick, front in Flemish bond, rear in English garden wall bond; timber shopfronts; brick stacks to slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2-storey 3-window front. Shopfronts framed in plain pilasters with necking of banded roundels and continuous moulded cornice on grooved consoles. Shopfront to No.9 now blocked by 4-pane sash window: Nos 11 and 13 retain 8-pane shop windows with slender glazing bars, moulded sills and painted timber risers: doors of 4 sunk panels have divided overlights. First floor windows are 12-pane sashes with narrow painted sills and flat brick arches. Renewed guttering on timber modillions with tapering faceted rainwater head at right end.
