Description

YORK SE6052SW GILLYGATE 1112-1/13/369 (North West side) 14/06/54 Nos.23 AND 25 GV II House, later divided into two houses; now shop, cafe and flats. C18, altered c1800. Stucco with pantiled roof behind parapet. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic. Facade has two 2-storey canted bay windows which have glazing bar sashes and leaded roofs above dentilled timber cornices. The 2 attic dormers have catslide roofs and horizontal sashes with glazing bars. The 2 doorways, to left and right, each have doors of 6 raised and fielded panels and doorcases with fluted engaged columns, open dentilled pediments, and semicircular overlights. Between the 2 houses there is a lead rainwater hopper and downspout, and a chimney in front of the ridge. INTERIOR: not inspected.
