Description

YORK SE6051NE COLLIERGATE 1112-1/17/232 (North East side) 01/07/68 No.17 GV II House, now shop. Mid C18, rebuilt at front in late C19. Front of red brick in Flemish bond, rear rendered; timber shopfront; slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3-storey 2-window front. Shopfront framed in sunk-panel pilasters with moulded dentilled cornice between console brackets. Plate glass windows over sunk-panel risers flank glazed and panelled double doors in eared architrave with fluted frieze and moulded cornice lintel beneath deep overlight. Upper floor windows are segment-arched 1-pane sashes with stone sills. Rear: 3-storey, 2-window gable wall with 1-pane sashes on each floor. INTERIOR: tiled floor to stairhall. Original open string staircase with fluted column balusters, foliate scrolled treadends and ramped-up handrail rises to first floor: flight to higher floors has slender turned balusters.
