Description

YORK SE5952SE BOOTHAM 1112-1/12/79 (South West side) 19/08/71 No.52 and attached railings GV II House. Early C19; eaves raised and doorway altered mid C19. Red brick in Flemish bond. Slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys above cellars and 3 bays. The windows are sashed without glazing bars and have rubbed brick flat arches. The doorway, in the left-hand bay, has a painted stone or stucco surround with flanking lights, a bracketed cornice, and a blocking course. Above the door, which has 6 panels with raised moulded borders, is a semicircular overlight. The facade has a timber modillion gutter cornice. Chimneys to left and right. INTERIOR: not inspected. RCHM records staircase rebuilt c1850. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: the basement area is enclosed by iron railings on low stone copings.
