Description

YORK SE54NE BISHOPTHORPE ROAD 1112-1/3/1238 (East side (off)) Dovecote approximately 50 metres south-east of Middlethorpe Hall GV II Dovecote, now wine cellar. Late C17, restored c1980. Red brick in English garden wall bond with timber landing platform and timber guttering on scrolled cast-iron spikes; tile pyramidal roof with timber and glass lantern with lead ogee roof. Square on plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. To west, C20 board door with segmental brick arch. Broad brick band between the storeys. Eaves enclosed by landing platform on shaped brackets beneath single row of dove holes. Roof is crowned by octagonal lantern with diamond lattice glazing.
