Description

NABURN FRONT STREET SE 54 NE (north side) 4/91 The Homestead 22.11.82 - II House. Probably early-mid C16 with later additions and alterations including late C20 rebuilding of brick shell in part. Timber-framed encased in pinkish-brown brick with pantile roof. Originally double-aisled plan, front aisle to right half only. Single storey with attic, 3 bays. End entrance a late C20 6-panel door. Unequally-hung 18-pane tripartite sashes under soldier and elliptical arches. 3 late C20 roof dormers with unequally-hung 12-pane sashes. Ridge and end stacks. Interior: much of timber frame visible including front arcade post on padstone, rear jowled arcade posts on padstones, with arched braces to tie beams, and arcade plate with 3 scarf joints. Chamfered spine beam and transverse beam with chamfer stops. Exposed joists. Bressumer to fireplace. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group Report Number 819.
