Description

YORK SE6051NE WALMGATE 1112-1/17/1171 (North East side) No.98 The Spread Eagle Public House II Public house. Early C19. altered mid C19 with alteration c1902. Ground floor framed in timber pilasters at front with infill of red brick in English garden-wall bond; upper floors of stucco, grooved on first floor; rear of pink-cream brick in English garden-wall bond; roof of tile at front, slate at rear, with brick stack. EXTERIOR: 3-storey 1-window front. Glazed and panelled door to right of central segment-arched mullion and transom window of 4 lights. Shallow bow window on first floor with three 4-pane sashes over grooved sill band, plain frieze and moulded capping. On second floor, 4-pane sash windows in wide frames flank panel in moulded surround. Raised second floor band. INTERIOR: not inspected.
