Description

YORK SE6051SW TOWER PLACE 1112-1/21/1134 (North West side) 24/06/83 No.1 Postern House GV II House. Early C19. Red-grey brick in Flemish bond, with doorcase and eaves cornice of timber, and brick end stacks to Welsh slate roof. Central-entry plan. EXTERIOR: 2-storey 2-window front. Central doorcase of engaged fluted Doric columns, beaded panelled frieze and cornice hood: 2 steps lead to door of 6 raised and fielded panels, beneath margin-glazed overlight, recessed in incised panelled reveal. All windows are 16-pane sashes with renewed sills and flat arches of gauged brick, those on first floor cut by dentilled and bracketed cornice. Yorkshire Insurance firemark dated 1824 on first floor.
