Description

YORK SE6050NE NEW WALK TERRACE 1112-1/25/803 (South side) 14/06/54 No.18 GV II House. c1825. Painted brick with slate roof, hipped at right. EXTERIOR: the north facade is of 3 storeys above a cellar. The windows are glazing bar sashes. The ground-floor window is tripartite and bowed and is set within a panel of brickwork which breaks forwards slightly under a plain entablature. On the 1st floor there is a single window, and on the 2nd floor 2 windows. Shared chimneys at left, in front of and behind ridge. The right-hand return wall, facing west towards New Walk and the River Ouse, is of 3 storeys above the basement storey, which is entered from the lower ground level, and of 3 bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes, except for the central window on the ground floor which is fixed with glazing bars and has a segmental head with radial glazing bars. The 1st floor window has an elliptical head. To the left of the right-hand basement window there is a small C20 casement. The central bay of the basement has a door with 6 raised and fielded panels in a doorcase with fluted pilasters and a cornice on console brackets. INTERIOR: not inspected.
