Description

The earliest identifiable phase in the development of number 75 is a timber framed urban hall house, probably dating to the 15th century. As originally built, it appears to have comprised a small open hall of two bays in length and a jettied cross wing, also of two bays. Little of the fabric of this phase survives, the property having been largely rebuilt in the early 19th century. Number 77 comprises a 15th century cross-wing, adjoining and built at the same time as number 75, and a 16th century jettied hall range of two bays in length and two storeys in height. It could not be determind whether the wing of number 77 was originally part of number 75, or formed the wing of an identical adjoining house, built at the same time as a part of a tenement row.
