Description

An excavation was carried out on a covering approximately 2.2. hectares and consisted of orchards and gardens. This was done in advance of a prposed residential development. A total of seven trenches were excavated to determine the nature and extent of the archaeological deposits.Evidence for early occupation of the site was scant with only two sherds of Roman pottery being recovered. However evidence for extensive medieval period occupation was recorded including evidence for ridge and furrow cultivation and small scale industrial activity, as indicated by burning in the sub-soil.
