Description

A watching brief on this site concluded that this site was the site of the now defunct castle bailey. It was further concluded that the bailey was used as an open space from Medieval times till the construction of the present street frontage during the later part of the 19th century. However the contractor concluded that the lack of good datable evidence meant that the deposits could not be interpreted or dated more precisely.
