Description
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during groundworks for a new two-storey block of flats. The groundworks were carried out to a maximum depth of 1.10m below ground level, revealing a consistent sequence across the site. The modern hardcore and 19th-century brick foundations overlay a pack of made-ground (c.0.5m deep), containing clinker, CBM and modern glass. This had been deposited over a possible turfline at 0.90m BGL, which overlay a clean brown clayey silt.
