Description
Four trenches were excavated by boys from Bootham School under the supervision of Philip Corder at the request of HM Ministry of Works.
The excavation was designed to answer the following questions: Was the central mound artificial? Had it been occupied by any structure, and, if so, at what date? What was the nature of the rectangular bank? At what period was it constructed?
