This investigation has examined readily available historical and archaeological data within a 250m radius of the Kent Street coach park, Kent Street, York. This has shown that a build-up of between 1.5m and 2.2m of deposits can be anticipated between natural deposits and the existing ground surface within the development plot. This will include remains of the Roman, medieval and post-medieval periods. There is also the possibility that a few remains of the Anglian and Anglo-Scandinavian periods will also be present. The uppermost part of the deposit sequence will relate to modem materials and surfaces. It is anticipated that the bulk, but not all, of the remains will relate to agrarian landscapes.
