Description

The monitoring did not identify any archaeological features, but revealed that the post-medieval topsoil had been sealed under redeposited material from the original water tower excavations. This had subsequently been greatly denuded by additions to pipework, telecom and electrical cable trenches and later test-pitting. Only post-medieval to modern finds were identified within the buried soils. There is nevertheless some potential for future groundwork within the site to encounter archaeological features sealed beneath the buried soils.
