Description

On-Site Archaeology Ltd undertook a small Archaeological Evaluation on behalf of St Peter's School in August 2007. The investigation took place in advance of ground works associated with the construction of an artificial sports pitch in the school playing fields. The evaluation trench failed to reveal any archaeology of significance, excavation only revealed a modern 'made' ground deposit sealing a possible rubbish tip/dump of 20th century date. There is no evidence to indicate any remaining archaeology of sufficient importance to hinder development of the site although it is possible that any planning permission may require archaeological mitigation in the form of a Watching Brief dependent upon the scale of the ground works.
