Description

EXCAVATION NB: this is a structure so height AOD is not contemporary ground surface Part of Fortress wall and rampart behind was found to survive to a height of 2.50m. Anglo-Scandinavian material had built up against the wall's outer face and a 10th century timber building had used the Roman wall for support. The Roman wall was partially robbed during this period.
