Description

In late March 2001 York Archaeological Trust carried out an archaeological watching brief in the rear yard of The White House, 10 Clifton, York, during the drilling of a bore-hole. The borehole revealed deposits of natural origin at a depth of 1.20m BGL. A relict soil overlay natural and was in turn sealed by 19th-20th century demolition materiaL Deposits above this consisted of a thin layer of rubble and a capping of modern tarmac.
