Description

Compact interleaved clays and clay silts with occasional animal bone, charcoal and mortar. It appears to be infilling a cut at least 2m deep that has removed earlier archaeological deposits and the underlying natural sands, exposing the glacial till - probably the medieval bailey ditch or an associated feature.
