Description

A cobble surface approximately 3m wide and running east-west was interpreted as a Roman road or trackway. It was encountered 0.60m below ground surface. An undated pit was also recorded. The lack of any resurfacing layers and the absence of later Roman pottery at Belle Vue Street suggest that the road had a brief life, but the route it established may have continued in use.
