Description

This evaluation consisted of a single archaeological trench 3m square and 1.5m deep. Five phases of activity were identified. The earliest excavated deposits (phase I) represented a timber structure and cobbled surface dating from the 14th century. The deposits were waterlogged and organic preservation was very good. Phases II-IV represented a series of dumped deposits of dating to the medieval period. Modern activity appears to have removed all post-medieval deposits on the site.
