Description

In April 2002 York- Archaeological Trust carried out an archaeological watching brief in the grounds of the Merchant Adventurers Hall, Fossgate, York. The excavation of' a total of eight postholes was observed and recorded for a new pergola. Although these posiholes penetrated up to C. Im below the modern ground level it is not believed tiiat an ' v significant archaeological stratigraphy was disturbed during the work and it is likelv that all deposits encountered were relatively modern.
