Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by On-Site Archaeology, in October and November 2014, during groundworks for a new extension and drainage at St Everilda’s Church in Nether Poppleton, York. The watching brief was commissioned to satisfy a Faculty for the development. The investigation comprised the monitoring of machine and hand excavation of numerous trenches for foundation pads, foundation beams and drainage. Two post-medieval buttress pads and 33 medieval or post-medieval inhumations were found during the archaeological monitoring of this site.
