Description
An archaeological evaluation followed a desk-top study undertaken by the York Archaeological Trust. The evaluation consisted of a very limited trench 1.5mx1m by 500mm deep. The evaluation revealed stratified deposits of late medieval and post-medieval date representing buildings on the street frontage . The most remarkable result was the demonstration that archaeological deposits survive to within 150mm of the present day ground surface.
