Description

A road aligned south-west/north-east and 9.5m wide; with at least three successive surfaces, perhaps two more but following prolonged or massive deposition (post-Roman?). Sandy deposits and particularly a rubble layer at least 0.7m thick suggest that the road rested on a massive levelling deposit. A large 'tile rubble' deposit indicates a massive structure on the south-east side of the road [that robbed in the 12th century?] Exact location uncertain.
