Description

An archaeological watching brief was carried out on works associated with the construction of a new dwelling on land to the rear of 44 The Green, Acomb. This involved the monitoring of initial topsoil stripping followed by machine-dug trenches to create the foundations for the new building. The topsoil strip and the trench excavation was carried out using a tracked mini excavator. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were encountered during the investigation. The only significant feature on the site is the Anderson shelter discovered during site clearance to the west of the new dwelling. It is intended to preserve the shelter in situ.
