On 24th – 28th July 2017 a watching brief on a single storey pitched roof 'wrap-around' side and rear extension at 8 Park Street was undertaken by York Archaeological Trust. The foundation trench was excavated to a depth of 1.00m BGL. The deposits excavated were as follows; 0.30m of topsoil, 0.20m of subsoil and 0.50m of orange sandy clay natural. The area of the extension which is alongside 6 Park Street is being built on raft foundations, so no further excavation to any depth which would encounter archaeology will take place.
