Description
Two trial pits were monitored to a depth of 1m bgl. The archaeological sequence observed in both trial pits was very similar, with 20th century services and make-up deposits overlying what appeared to be natural geological clays at between 0.45m BGL and 0.80m BGL. The construction of the recently demolished buildings that occupied the site in the 20th century appears to have caused a great deal of disturbance, so it is highly unlikely that the present development has had an adverse effect on any significant archaeological deposits.
