Description

A watching brief maintained during the excavation of a machine dug trench revealed a stone built medieval drain and a considerable depth of river deposited silts bottoming on a apparently tree-strewn river bank of post-glacial, pre -Roman date. Radiocarbon dates from the timber suggested a catastrophic episode in the Bronze Age. (YAT identification No 1992.14) York Archaeological Trust annual report 25 1992 - 1993
