Description
A watching brief carried out during the refurbishment of a sewer running east along Colliergate. The excavation measured 2.80m by 2.50m with the longest axis running along the alignment of Colliergate. 1.70m of material excavated consisted of much building demolition in a matrix of brown silty clay. This deposit consisted of brick rubble, limestone fragments, one or two with worked faces, and sections of iron railings may have been from Holy Trinity Church. No trace was found of a cemetery
