Description

Three evaluation trenches were excavated adjacent to the existing ABP factory at Murton, York. No features of archaeological significance were encountered during this evaluation. Slight hollows in Trench 1 may represent the remnants of a medieval ridge and furrow field system. Later post-medieval – modern land drains were present within each of the trenches. The only recovered artefactual material was a fragment of clay tobacco pipe and a handful of 19th century, and later, pottery.
