Description

A watching brief during the building of an extension to the Technology Department recovered some human bones. It appeared that development of the site had destroyed any archaeological stratigraphy. Evans D/ 1996/ Report on an Archaeological Watching Brief at the Mount School, Dalton Terrace, York. Report not available from YAT. Entry in gazetteer: Natural deposits were encountered approx. 0.4m BGL, above which modern material including two brick walls were found. Some human bone was recovered from the site and may have derived from the nearby local cemetery. Excavator D. Evans. 1996.397
