Description

A watching brief was undertaken at the Rose & Crown Public House, 13 Lawrence Street, following the discovery of human bones during builders excavations. The argument for the site being the location of the cemetery for St Nicholas's church is doubtful because there was little other disturbance in the context where the bodies were discovered. It seemsthat they were place there as a one-off burial, perhaps a family killed in the Civil War.
