Description

The June WB revealed a timber pile. Apart from the possible Roman pile no structural remains were noted from the borehole but it is known that further to the north-west the area between Skeldergate and the present waterfront was being reclaimed and built on during the medieval period onwards, so some structural remains might be expected around the Bonding Warehouse although it is not known how well they may survive. The watching brief in September-October revealed deposits believed to be 19th-20th century in date although no dating evidence was recovered.
