Description
A watching brief during underpinning recorded little of archaeological significance.
Observation of the trench excavations revealed the shallow depth of the current foundations. The presence of limestone foundations along the north wall of the property may indicate the requirement for stronger foundations or possibly the reuse of earlier foundations.
The deposits excavated from the trenches give little indication of the previous use of the site except for the layer of brick/tile which may represent the debris from the demolition of an earlier building.
