Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during remedial works to walls between St Olave's Church and St Mary's Gatehouse. With no datable archaeological evidence in the form of finds discovered on site, and, because of the lack of excavation down to foundation levels, the actual date of the various construction phases could not be ascertained. The work did however, allow for the recording of parts of the structure which had previously gone unrecorded. Exact location uncertain. Brinklow D & Marwood R/1995/Report on an Archaeological Watching Brief on the Wall Between St Olave's Church and St Mary's Gatehouse, Marygate, York (PO 337).
