Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken when human remains were unearthed during roadworks in Coppergate. The lack of well stratified dateable material makes it difficult to assign a date to the skeletal remains. It is certain however that the bodies were buried in the churchyard of All Saints church, which pre 1782 extended out beneath the present day line of Coppergate. Location uncertain without report. YAT/1995/Coppergate Roadworks, York. Report on an Archaeological Watching Brief. (PO289).
