Description
A watching brief was undertaken on excavations required for the construction of an extension to the garage associated with 8 Chapter House Street, York. During these excavations, several fragments of pottery, dating from the 16th to 20th centuries were unearthed. These, together with several fragments of human bone and skull, suggest that the site has been levelled with material from nearby, possibly the cemetery of St. John-Del-Pyke.
