Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during excavations in the basement of 18 Parliament Square. The deposits encountered would appear to be similar to those seen in 1987 against the face of the Roman fortress wall. This would identify them as belonging to the Anglo-Scandinavian period and they probably represent occupational buildup within the by then derelict Roman fortress.
