Description

Archaeological interventions in the area of Fibber’s, Toft Green demonstrate the potential of archaeological deposits to a depth of around 5m BGL. There is potential to encounter post-medieval structures along the frontage of Toft Green, potentially in relation to Micklegate House. Significant deposits of a medieval and Roman date have a high potential at the study site, from depths between 0.30m and 3.58m BGL. Of particular significance is the potential to uncover evidence for the street layout of the Roman civil settlement, and high status Roman buildings.
