An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by On-Site Archaeology Ltd at Askham Bryan College during the construction of an extension to the existing Learning Resource Centre. The investigation comprised the archaeological monitoring of a reduced level excavation across the full footprint of the extension. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were encountered during the archaeological investigation. The natural was directly overlain by 20th century landscaping deposits associated with the construction and expansion of the college. As natural deposits were exposed across the full footprint of the extension the foundation trenches which were only excavated into the natural were not monitored.
