Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by On-Site Archaeology Ltd at Askham Bryan College, York in July and September 2021, during the construction of two new cattle buildings and associated works.
The investigation comprised the archaeological monitoring of a series of areas of topsoil stripping and the excavations for foundations for the new buildings.
No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were encountered during the archaeological investigation. Natural boulder clay was revealed immediately beneath the topsoil. In one area if the site the natural had been truncated by a modern intrusion. Agricultural land drains and recent evidence for ploughing were also observed.
