Description
The watching brief comprised the monitoring of a single machine excavated foundation trench to the rear of Gillygate House, 28 Gillygate. The trench was dug by machine, following the removal of an existing concrete slab, to a depth of 0.80m below the existing ground surface. No archaeological features or deposits were observed during this process. Demolition material and horticultural soil deposits were recorded, which extended below the maximum depth of excavation.
