Description

An archaeological watching brief for the installation of Wayfinding signage throughout York City Centre. The work was undertaken for York BID to fulfil a monitoring requirement outlined within the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979. In this instance, all interventions took place within the York Central Area of Archaeological Importance (AAI). The works involved the monitoring and recording of all archaeological deposits exposed during the ground reductions prior to the installation of the signage. The interventions were relatively shallow to cater to the foundations required for the signage installation. The majority of these interventions did not surpass the make-up for their respective ground level. No finds of archaeological significance were discovered during the course of the works.
