Description

Between August 2nd and 13th 2021, York Archaeological Trust conducted a trial trench evaluation followed by a week of post-excavation assessment at Old St. Oswald's Church, Fulford, York. The project was a CIfA approved training course funded and carried out entirely by its participants. The work was undertaken with the kind permission of the landowner to help investigate the archaeological resource of what is currently a private garden. The work involved the excavation and recording of three evaluation trenches. All three trenches contained structural remains dating to the 18th-19th century alongside residual evidence of Roman, medieval and post-medieval activity.
