Between the 10th June and the 20th July 2021 York Archaeological Trust conducted an archaeological watching brief at York Central Infrastructure Project 2. Tetra Tech undertook Site Investigation (SI) works as part of Infrastructure Project 2 (IP2) of York Central Project (18/01884/OUTM). The works involved the monitoring and recording of machine excavated test pits, hand dug test pits for cone penetration tests, cable percussion boreholes and window/less sample boreholes. The area around Millennium Green and the Holgate Beck suggest intact alluvial and organic sedimentation is preserved. At the National Railway Museum Car Park further organic deposits have been identified. The work has also determined the level of 19th century landscaping across the site which can be added to the established model.
