Description
Between the 28th January and the 30th March 2022 York Archaeology conducted an archaeological watching brief for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation Measures across York City Centre.
The work was undertaken for the City of York Council, and aimed to monitor and record any archaeological deposits or structures exposed by the ground works.
The groundworks exposed no significant archaeology. The deposits within the trial holes were relatively uniform, consisting of a concrete upper layer above a sub base and rubbly service backfill. Any archaeological finds within these deposits were residual. No significant structures
were discovered; remains of red bricks in a small number of trial holes may represent the remaining section of a truncated structure.
