York Archaeology (YA) was commissioned by O’Connor Utilities Ltd to undertake an archaeological watching brief at Driffield Terrace during installation of a new telecommunication infrastructure. Although there was high potential to encounter archaeological deposits in the area of Driffield Terrace, the only deposit identified which pre-dated the cable trench was a clay deposit of unknown date and function due to the limited area observed and the lack of dateable finds. All other deposits observed were associated with the ducting and modern footway.
