Description

Water End series of trenches various lengths for gas inspection between Clifton Bridge and Clifton Green (centre, by Westminster Road, SE591529). Depth c. 0.50m – 1m. Below modern road make-up there was brown clay, probably boulder clay of the moraine outlier in this area. In small trench c. 0.50m deep opposite the Homestead (SE59205295) no trace of Roman Road 5 on RCHME line. Modern road material overlay boulder clay.
